For years, I struggled with digestion, inflammation, and exhaustion — and like many people, I tried everything that was marketed as “healthy.” Juice cleanses. Raw foods. Extreme resets. All of it.
Most of it made things worse.
What I eventually realized — through lived experience, studying holistic nutrition, and working with thousands of clients — is that healing doesn’t come from pushing the body harder. It comes from giving it the right kind of support at the right time.
That understanding is what led me to create the OWL Reset — and why, to this day, it’s the only reset I recommend during the winter months.
The body is always healing — digestion just uses a lot of energy
One of the most overlooked truths about health is this:
digestion is one of the most energy-intensive processes in the body.
Every time you eat, your body has to:
- break down food mechanically and chemically
- produce stomach acid and enzymes
- absorb nutrients
- manage blood sugar
- coordinate with the nervous system
When digestion is already compromised — by stress, inflammation, cold weather, or years of irritation — the system gets overwhelmed.
This is where liquid nourishment comes in.
Why liquid nourishment works (when it’s done right)
Liquid nourishment works because it reduces digestive workload without reducing nutrition.
When food is already partially broken down:
- nutrients absorb more easily
- inflammation decreases
- blood sugar stabilizes
- energy can be redirected toward repair
This is not about “detoxing toxins.”
Your liver and kidneys already do that beautifully.
It’s about creating conditions where the body can rebalance.
Why most liquid cleanses fail
I want to be very clear about this:
not all liquid diets are created equal.
Most juice cleanses are:
- cold (which weakens digestion)
- extremely high in sugar
- low in protein and fat
- devoid of minerals
This combination often leads to:
- blood sugar crashes
- anxiety and irritability
- fatigue and dizziness
- rebound cravings
I’ve seen it over and over — and I experienced it myself.
That’s exactly why I designed the OWL Reset differently.

Why broths are the foundation
Bone broth is one of the most ancient healing foods across cultures — and for good reason.
A properly made broth provides:
- bioavailable minerals and electrolytes
- amino acids that support gut lining integrity
- hydration that actually absorbs
- warmth, which supports digestion and the nervous system
In winter especially, warm, savory liquids signal safety to the body. They ground the system rather than stimulate it.
But broth alone isn’t enough — especially for modern bodies under stress.
Why plant-based shakes complete the reset
I intentionally paired broths with plant-based shakes built from whole foods — not powders and sweeteners.
Our shakes include:
- hemp protein for blood sugar stability and tissue repair
- whole fruits and vegetables like plantains, squash, and beets
- fiber to support the microbiome
- natural carbohydrates that fuel the body gently
These ingredients are:
- easy to digest
- grounding rather than stimulating
- supportive of hormones and energy
- appropriate for cold weather and winter physiology
This is what allows people to feel nourished, steady, and clear — not hungry, shaky, or depleted.
Why winter is the ideal time for this kind of reset
In traditional systems like Ayurveda and Chinese medicine, winter is a time of:
- inward focus
- repair and restoration
- conserving energy
- strengthening foundations
Cold weather naturally slows digestion. Piling on raw foods, fasting, or extremes during this season works against biology.
A winter reset should:
- warm the body
- stabilize blood sugar
- support immunity
- calm the nervous system
- simplify digestion
That’s why I only recommend this style of reset in winter — and why it works when others don’t.

What people actually experience on the OWL Reset
When digestion is supported instead of stressed, people often notice:
- reduced bloating within days
- calmer mood and nervous system
- clearer skin
- improved sleep
- steadier energy
- fewer cravings
Not because they “cleansed harder,” but because they stopped overwhelming their system.
Final thoughts from me, as a founder
I didn’t create the OWL Reset to follow a trend.
I created it because I needed it — and because so many people I worked with needed something gentler, smarter, and more sustainable.
Healing doesn’t come from punishment.
It comes from nourishment, consistency, and listening.
If you’re feeling inflamed, tired, or disconnected from your body, simplifying — especially in winter — can be incredibly powerful.
