OWL Turkey Bone Broth Elixir: What’s in it, why we love it, and how to use it.

Call us cliché, but we can’t get enough turkey broth this time of the year. Just one sip reminds of all the delicious food we’ll be eating next Thursday… Mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, sweet potatoes, stuffing, cranberries, brussel sprouts, pumpkin pie, and—of course—turkey.

Because we can’t seem to steer our thoughts away from the upcoming holiday, today we’re talking all about TURKEY… specifically, the OWL Turkey Bone Broth Elixir. This broth is one of our customer favorites, and not only because it tastes like the holiday season in a mug.

Keep reading to find out what makes our turkey bone broth elixir so unique, the benefits of the medicinal herbs we include in our recipe, and our favorite way to cook with turkey broth this season!

All About Our Turkey Bone Broth Elixir

A recent review from an OWL customer says it best…

“One of my best decisions ever was talking with Lindsey about my stomach issues and being introduced to all things OWL. All of the broths are wonderful and super beneficial, but this Turkey Bone Broth tastes like the holidays. It soothes my gut and the ritual of drinking it soothes me emotionally too. :)” - Lisa M.

Our turkey bone broth is comforting, delicious, and healing.

We mineralize all of our broths with apple cider vinegar and simmer for over 24 hours with healing herbs, roots, and vegetables sourced from local farms. As a result, all of our broths offer a wide range of benefits including improved digestion, reduced inflammation, and more.

While all of our bone broth elixirs promote gut health, they each have their own unique health benefits to offer because the ingredients vary from recipe to recipe. Not only do we use different bones, we also customize the herbs, roots, and veggies. This is why we recommend our customers include all of our broths in their diet (if possible)!

So what makes our turkey bone broth elixir so special?

Two words…

Ginger and Sage.

Let’s talk about ginger first… Ginger is one of the world’s healthiest foods, and its benefits have been observed for centuries! Historically, ginger was commonly used to alleviate nausea and vomiting, which we now know is thanks to gingerol, a chemical compound found in ginger that has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.

Ginger is known for the following health benefits:

  • It relieves nausea.
  • It prevents seasickness.
  • It treats indigestion.
  • It can reduce menstrual cramps.
  • It may support memory and improve brain function.
  • It can fight infections.
  • It can alleviate joint pain. Now on to sage!

Now on to sage! Like ginger, sage is loaded with antioxidants. While sage is commonly burned as a natural cleansing agent, it also has many valuable benefits when consumed. Not only is this herb a great source of vitamin K, it contains magnesium, zinc, copper and vitamins A, C and E. Even better, sage contains chlorogenic acid, caffeic acid, rosmarinic acid, ellagic acid and rutin, which have anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties.

Sage is known for the following health benefits:

  • It may improve brain function.
  • It can lower risk of cancer.
  • It may support memory and improve brain health.
  • It may lower HDL cholesterol levels.
  • It can alleviate diarrhea.
  • It supports oral health.
  • It may reduce blood sugar levels.

The gist:

Because we include ginger and sage in our recipe, the OWL Turkey Bone Broth Elixir contains antioxidants that support memory, improve brain brain health, and treat chronic indigestion! And that’s in addition to all the other benefits of bone broth.
