OWL Immunity Elixir

With the winter months ahead, sickness becomes a common plight among all walks of life. Cold dry air contributes to upper respiratory infections, along with the increased prevalence of illnesses like the cold and flu. It’s no mystery as to why now is the time to take steps toward strengthening your immune system.

A strong immune system plays a powerful role in safeguarding the body against a mile-long list of infections, diseases, and harmful pathogens. One of the primary benefits of a strong immune system is its ability to take swift action in defending against foreign invaders that attempt to enter and take root in your system. This helps you experience a reduction in the risk of falling ill, which could mean less severe symptoms or avoiding getting sick at all.

In addition to acting fast, a well-functioning immune system contributes to quicker recovery times, ensuring your body can bounce back from illnesses with efficiency. Beyond infectious diseases, a strong immune system also plays a crucial role in preventing the development of chronic conditions, since it helps to regulate and control inflammation within the body. And in the long run, a healthy immune system promotes overall well-being by enhancing energy levels, supporting mental clarity, and contributing to a better quality of life.

Fortifying your immune system is a proactive and essential approach to ensuring your health and preventing sickness. During this season of cold and flu, you might want to consider getting ahead of those airborne illnesses. Preventing symptoms of sickness before they happen can help keep you vibrant and healthy through the winter months. To enhance your immune function, we recommend adopting a balanced and nutritious diet rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants.

Immunity Elixir with herbs

Immune Boosting Ingredients

We know that you prioritize feeling your absolute best, and we aim to support you along your health journey, so we've concocted something flavorful and fortified to give your immune system the boost it needs to stay strong. Our new Immunity Elixir has a combination of natural and therapeutic ingredients to support your body and its defenses against illness.

Immunity

Lion's mane - Lion’s mane mushrooms are popular in Asian countries for both their culinary and medicinal uses. They’re popularity in the U.S. is growing and we love including them in our recipes. Lion’s mane increases the activity of your intestinal immune system1. This is what helps protect you against pathogens that enter through the nose and mouth.

Turkey tail - Turkey tail is another medicinal mushroom used around the world to help treat certain conditions. This is due to the high content of antioxidants, namely phenol and flavonoid antioxidants2. These promote immune system health by helping to reduce inflammation and stimulate the release of protective compounds. On top of those outstanding qualities, this mushroom also promotes the release of proteins that innately help protect your immune system, and inhibit release of inflammatory enzymes.

Another valuable quality of turkey tail mushrooms is the presence of Krestin and Polysaccharide Peptide, which are two types of carbohydrates. They support immune health and response by activating specific types of immune cells while inhibiting others depending on the need, in addition to suppressing inflammation3.

Calendula - Calendula is a flowering plant also known as pot marigold, common in most gardens. In addition to its high content of antioxidants, calendula also boasts strong antimicrobial properties4. This is an important component of building a strong immune system and the reason why this flower made it onto our list of ingredients.

Anti-Inflammatory

Turmeric - No list of anti-inflammatory supplements is complete without turmeric. The star component of turmeric is the compound curcumin. This bioactive substance packs a powerful punch in the fight against inflammation5. Staving off inflammation ensures high quality maintenance of your immune system and its response when called to action.

Ginger - Ginger is another must have on our list of natural anti-inflammatories. Gingerol is the compound that gives ginger its potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory powers6. As an added bonus, ginger helps fight infections with its impressive antimicrobial properties.

Orange peel - Limonene is a chemical found in the peels of all citrus fruits and is extracted as an oil. Some studies show that limonene can reduce inflammation7.

Herbs and Spices

As in all of our Elixirs, we love to include beneficial herbs and spices including:

  • Cinnamon
  • Sage
  • Rosemary
  • Parsley
  • Cilantro

These small but valuable additions have immune boosting super powers that help fight inflammation, oxidative stress, and infections. No OWL Elixir would be complete without them. Each one is chosen with intention and care to help you tend to your own well-being.

Julie Weller

Julie is a self-made writer on a forever journey of fitness and health. As a high school music teacher, she has seen and experienced the challenges of maintaining good health while simultaneously balancing a career and healthy relationships.

Julie has always lived a healthy and active lifestyle. She loves the outdoors, hiking, and camping. Over the years she has continued to learn smarter and better ways to take care of her body while continuing to do the things that make her smile. Naturally, all of her teacher friends wanted to know how she did it - what was her secret?

Julie found herself explaining over and over everything she'd learned in her research, and sharing her experiences through trial and error. Her friends would take her advice, try some new things, and then come back to ask how to take it to the next level.

"You should charge for this kind of information!" Became a constant phrase, and so began her career of writing to share her knowledge with the world through health and wellness companies looking to spread healing and healthy habits within their communities. Now Julie gets to combine two of the things she enjoys most - writing and wellness - and use them to affect change in a real way.

When not making music with her kiddos, or writing wellness tips for a higher quality of life, you can find her reading, hiking, drumming, and fitnessing
