A few years back, I was deep in the Minnesota wilderness on a canoe trip - no cell service, just trees, sky, and the cleanest, living waters - when I managed to break my ankle. My first ever bone break... and it was a doozy. Imagine being out in the wild, miles from help, suddenly unable to move.
The journey that followed was one of true surrender. Luckily, I had a supportive partner and group around me to help navigate the trek out. But once I returned to Los Angeles, the real healing began.
In my process of recovery, I knew I needed deep, foundational support - not just for the bone itself, but for my joints, gut, nervous system, and immune resilience while my body was repairing and healing. I turned to what I knew to be one of the most ancient and effective healing foods: bone broth.
That summer is when I discovered OWL Venice - and eventually began working there as a health coach. I immediately started integrating their broths into my daily ritual, drinking them as often as I could to nourish my body from the inside out. Rich in collagen, minerals, and amino acids, these broths became part of my recovery - and truly aided me in my return to strength.

Let’s Talk About Bone Broth, for, well… Bones!
Our bodies are in constant communication with themselves. Often, that conversation begins in the gut - and branches outward to every other system. Today, we’re focusing on the dialogue between the belly and the bones - between the place where we digest life, and the structure that holds us upright through it.
When either one is out of balance, we feel it: inflammation, fatigue, brain fog, stiff joints, bloating. We may not always know where it started, but we can feel the disconnect.
Chronic joint pain and inflammation are often symptoms of a deeper imbalance: leaky gut, dysbiosis, or nutrient malabsorption. When the intestinal lining is damaged, inflammatory particles enter the bloodstream, and the immune system responds. That inflammation doesn’t just stay in the belly - it shows up in our knees, fingers, hips, spine.
Bone broth brings the antidote.
Bone broth contains both gelatin and collagen, which help repair and seal the gut lining. This not only calms systemic inflammation, but improves nutrient absorption - which is vital for rebuilding bones and lubricating joints. Amino acids like glycine, proline, and glutamine help regenerate connective tissue, reduce joint stiffness, and promote skin and fascia integrity.
Beyond collagen, bone broth is rich in calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, and trace minerals, which are all essential for bone density and nervous system regulation. These minerals are extracted slowly from the bones themselves through hours of simmering in acidic water (we at OWL add a splash of apple cider vinegar to draw them out).
And the result is a mineral elixir that the body can absorb far more easily than most supplements. These minerals are what make bones strong yet flexible - the ideal combination for preventing fractures and recovering from injury.
But they also speak to the nervous system. Calcium and magnesium help regulate muscle contraction, sleep cycles, and even mood. And when you’re healing from a bone injury - like I was - ensuring a calm and regulated nervous system is just as, if not more, important as rebuilding the physical tissue. Bone broth can do both.

Why OWL Bone Broth is Different
Not all bone broths are created equal. What sets OWL Venice Bone Broth Elixirs apart is that they’re more than just broth—they’re nourishing drinking tonics, thoughtfully crafted to be sipped like tea.
Each elixir is brewed with organic, grass-fed bones, and then our OWL broths are infused with digestive herbs like ginger, turmeric, fennel, burdock, and dandelion - plants traditionally used to support detoxification, soothe the gut, and calm systemic inflammation.
Our broths are non-traditional in the best way—they’re free from common allergens like onions, garlic, and nightshades, making them FODMAP-friendly and gentle on sensitive digestive systems. The result is a light, clear, and easy-to-sip broth. I love mine with a squeeze of fresh organic lemon and a spoonful of ghee.
Each variety - Beef, Chicken, Turkey and Bison - has its own herbal profile, designed to work synergistically with the base. They’re slow-simmered for over 24 hours, allowing the collagen, minerals, and nutrients to be fully extracted and deeply nourishing.
Whether you’re doing a full Reset or just working a cup into your morning or evening, OWL broths offer a beautiful blend of comfort, ease and nourishment and intention for your gut, your bones, your brain and everything in between.
